Sifu Elmond Leung

Sifu Elmond Leung (Head Instructor San Francisco / Millbrae), 4th Level Technician

In 1967 Sifu Elmond Leung began his Wing Tsun Kung Fu journey in Hong Kong. At that time, the late Great Grandmaster Yip Man had opened a new program to attract younger students to his school on Nathan Road.

Sifu Elmond signed up and studied there for a short period of time before work took him away from martial arts practice. When Sifu Elmond returned to the school on Nathan Road, he discovered it was being run by a gifted young Sifu named Leung Ting. In those days, Leung Ting personally conducted class at his school on a daily basis. The school on Nathan Road still operates in Hong Kong to this day. Sifu Elmond studied with Grandmaster Leung Ting until Sifu Elmond's family immigrated to the United States in 1974. Prior to leaving Hong Kong, Sifu Elmond attained the Third Level Technician ranking.

In 1982 Sifu Elmond started teaching privately to a handful of students. His students’ accomplishments include having won First, Second and Third place rankings in international competitions. Meanwhile, his own teacher, Grandmaster Leung Ting had become the leader of the largest Kung Fu organization in the world, the International Wing Tsun Association (IWTA).

Those who have met Sifu Elmond quickly acknowledge that he has genuine Wing Tsun knowledge and a master’s skill level. Sifu Elmond is a member of the both the International Wing Tsun Association in Hong Kong, and of the North American Section (IWTA-NAS). In the family tradition of Wing Tsun, Grandmaster Leung Ting now calls upon Sifu Elmond to help teach and train the younger Wing Tsun brothers and sisters.

Following the general student curriculum of the IWTA-NAS, Sifu Elmond teaches according to each individual student’s ability. He helps his students understand Wing Tsun principals and methodology. He never bullies his students, nor does he allow bullying in his classes. Sifu Elmond advocates that students who apply themselves to consistent, regular, and correct practice are those who will accomplish their Wing Tsun goals.
